Can I sell AI-generated assets on the Unity Asset Store?
Short answer: Yes, with disclosure. Unity's submission guidelines (section 1.6) say content made with the aid of AI, wholly or in part, must be disclosed in the marketing data. You must name the tools and the AI-generated content in the 'AI description' field and describe your modifications. You can't describe AI work as 'hand drawn' or 'painted', and Unity can reject mass-produced AI packs. Your AI tool's licence must also allow resale.

What the official terms say
"Content generated with the aid of AI, completely or in part, must transparently disclose this information in the marketing data."
"The specific AI tools used and the content generated using AI must be disclosed in the “AI description” field in plain terms, without marketing language, and describing all modifications made that add value beyond the result of the generation."
"disclosure is still mandatory if any functional part of the asset is generated by or with the assistance of AI."
"Content generated by AI or AI-assisted content cannot use keywords or terms that would imply human effort (e.g., “drawn”, “hand drawn”, “painted”) in any part of the submission."
"Unity reserves the right to reject submissions that are mass-produced using AI and lack sufficient differentiation or unique value relative to the publisher's existing catalog."

What it means for your game
- Disclose: the specific AI tools, which content is AI-generated, and what you changed, in plain terms in the AI description field.
- Marketing images: AI is allowed without disclosure if it accurately reflects the package, but any functional AI part must still be disclosed.
- Wording: no 'drawn', 'hand drawn' or 'painted' for AI or AI-assisted content.
- Quality: mass-produced packs without unique value can be rejected.
- Licence: check that the tool allows reselling assets. Some only allow use in your own projects.

Store rules
| Store | AI disclosure | Summary |
|---|---|---|
| Fab (Epic asset marketplace) | Required for assets you sell/publish | Publishers must mark assets made with generative AI as 'Created with AI' at publish time; misclassifying violates Fab terms. Buyers can hide Created-with-AI results. A separate NoAI tag opts an asset… |
| itch.io | Required for assets you sell/publish | Asset pages must complete the Generative AI disclosure (untagged AI assets lose browse indexing). Games are asked to tag accurately; classic game AI (pathfinding, procedural generation) needs no tag. |
| Godot Asset Store | Required for assets you sell/publish | AI-generated assets and code are allowed if you disclose what is AI-generated and how AI was used, including AI output you edited or embedded in human-made work. |
