Guides › Can I ship it?
Can I use Leonardo AI images commercially, and on Steam?
Short answer: Only from a paid plan. Leonardo's Terms (last updated 19 January 2026) say that on a free subscription, ownership of what you create vests in Leonardo, while on a paid subscription it vests in you. Steam allows AI art made on a paid plan if you disclose it.

What the official terms say

"ownership of all Intellectual Property Rights in any Content you, or your Authorised Users, create while using the Platform will vest in you upon creation"
"We will also include much of your disclosure on the Steam store page for your game, so customers can also understand how the game uses AI."

What it means for your game
- Free plan: Leonardo owns the output, so don't ship it in a commercial game. Free creations are also public.
- Paid plans (from Essential): you own what you create.
- Images made before upgrading: the Terms say ownership vests 'upon creation'. On our reading, free-plan images stay Leonardo's after you upgrade, so regenerate them on a paid plan.
- Steam: declare AI art in the Content Survey.
